I recorded some audio around the highrise buildings in Redfern/Waterloo over the last couple of months.. Ran into some old friends and met some new people including a young couple who played didgeridoo and clapsticks.. and a jazz singer who let me record one of her original compositions as she performed impromptu on her first floor balcony. I didn’t photograph her. Her voice gave me goosebumps, I was not at all expecting its strength and beauty. After a little while a small crowd started to form and she became shy and exited indoors.

This was installed near the entrance to the Marton building in Waterloo soon after the judicial decision on Trayvon Martin’s killing in the USA.

Waterloo 2013. Mother Hana and father Abbas with children Sara, Zeinab and Ali.  The family had to relocate from Bahrain during the political uprisings and subsequent repression and severe human rights violations that began in 2011.  They moved into one of the highrise blocks in Waterloo one year ago (2012).
